Senator Rafiu condemns killing of kidnapped APC woman leader in Kwara 

...calls for improved security in Kwara South 

A chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Kwara and senator who represented Kwara South senatorial district in the 8th National Assembly, Dr Rafiu Adebayo Ibrahim, has condemned the gruesome killing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Women Leader in Koro Ward of Ekiti local government area of Kwara State, Mrs Olumo Abolaji, by bandits who abducted her and five others few days ago.
According to media reports, the other victims were rescued during a rescue operation carried out by a group of vigilantes in the area.
In a statement released by his Media Team on Monday, Senator Rafiu described Mrs Abolaji’s death as heart-rending and unfortunate. He condoled her family and the APC in Ekiti local government area.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the immediate family of late Mrs Olumo Abolaji, her community and the APC in Ekiti local government and the State at large. May God grant the soul of the departed eternal rest,” he prayed.
The Senator also commended the vigilantes who conducted the rescue operation that led to the freedom of other kidnapped victims.
The former Chairman of Senate committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions has, however, called for improved security in communities within and around Kwara South senatorial district, noting that the spate of insecurity in the region is worsening and must be addressed decisively.
He appealed to the State government to take urgent actions to rid Kwara South of criminal elements who have infiltrated the area.
