Despite the inauguration of the new executives of the All progressives Congress, APC, in Kwara, which many believed will settle the dust, the party is still not out of the woods of internal belligerency just yet, as a stalwart of the party, Sen. Sulaiman Makanjuola was seen lambasting a member of the Kwara House of Assembly, Hon. Rasaq Owolabi in a trending video.
According to the video which has since gone viral, the former senator representing Kwara South senatorial districts, Makanjuola while speaking at Babanloma community of Ifelodun local government area of the state, was seen tongue lashing the member representing Share/Oke-ode constituency.
Makanjuola alleged that Owolabi has contributed little to the development of his constituency especially the Babanloma community and doesn’t have anything to show for his three years in the house.
He said, “Where was Owolabi when the people that developed Babanloma community were developing it, where was he when I started my political career in 1975, he wasn’t born then, where was he when we did our best for the community, if he wants to argue with me, I can start mentioning my achievement One by one.
“What are the roles he has played in developing the community ?, I can tell you that he has played no role in facilitating the development of this community, when you voted for someone to represent you at the State House of Assembly, on getting there, with 3 years gone, he hasn’t even dig a well here in Babanloma, he hasn’t even erect a single pole for streetlight.” the APC stalwart said.
He added that, “All he does is to bring #2000 in envelopes and share them to women as his own form of Empowerment, how is that going to suffice them for even their upkeep? ”
Makanjuola however urged the people to ask Owolabi what has he done in the community ever since he was elected in 2019.
“You should ask him what he has done in all these years, all he does now is to flagrantly exert authority on the people, he even claimed that, the king can not give an order without his leave and that the king doesn’t have any authority to establish the BDU committee, and he himself has inaugurated his own committee without the blessing of the Monarch. ” Makanjuola stated.
However all efforts to speak with Owolabi to get his side of the story proved abortive, as he did answer several calls put through to him, nor did he reply the message sent to him.
The message which was sent to him reads, “Hello sir, my name is Jimoh Sulyman from The National Pilot newspaper, I want to speak with you concerning the allegations leveled against you by Sen. Ajadi, I want you to have the opportunity to clear the air.”
The Kwara chapter of the ruling party, the APC has been in the trenches since its assumption of power in 2019, with the crisis reaching a new climax leading to several defection from the party.
Some of the notable names that has dumped the party in the past weeks include a former commissioner in the state, Aisha Ahman-Pategi and Usman and Shuaib Yaman ,a former Gubernatorial aspirant in the party, with many expected to follow.
