Ace Broadcaster, Yemi Ademokoya dies in Ilorin, aged 67

*Kwara NUJ, NALVEJ mourn veteran journalist

Kwara state has lost one of its foremost journalists as the News of the death of popular broadcaster Chief (Mrs) Yemi Ademokoya was broken by her family in Ilorin.
According to the family, the veteran media practitioner bade the world farewell on Saturday at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, UITH, Ilorin, after a brief illness, at the age of 67.
The news as expected has elicited reactions especially from the members of the fourth estate of the realm.
In their condolence message to the bereaved family, the state Council of the Nigeria of Journalists (NUJ) in a statement in Ilorin on Sunday commiserated with the family of the late veteran broadcast Journalist.
According to the statement signed by the Council’s Chairman, Abdullateef ‘Lanre Ahmed and Secretary, Comrade Omotayo Ayanda, the Union received the news of the sudden death of Ademokoya with rude shock and disbelief.
Adding that, the Kwara NUJ will not forget her vibrancy even in her demise as she had contributed immensely and positively to the journalism profession.
“As tragic as the passing of Mrs Ademokoya is for broadcasters and all of us in pen fraternity, we take solace in her various contributions to the journalism profession, especially the broadcast industry in Kwara State where she groomed and mentored many fine broadcasters and journalists, who are excelling in the industry across the globe”, the NUJ said.
The Union described the death of Ademokoya as a colossal loss to the broadcasting industry and journalism profession.
They however, prayed to the Almighty God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Late Ademokoya was until her death the treasurer of the National League of Veteran Journalists, NALVEJ, Kwara State chapter.
In their condolence statement, The National League of Veteran Journalists (NALVEJ), in Kwara State described the death of one of their own as saddened and unfortunate.
The league in a statement by its chairman, Alh Tunde Akanbi and signed by its publicity secretary, Alh Abdullahi Olesin, lamented the loss of one of the active, committed and vibrant member of the association of senior journalists.
The Chairman said, members of the league and the entire media practitioners in Kwara state and Nigeria will miss the wise counsel of the late Ademokoya.
Extolling the virtues of the deceased, Akanbi noted that, Ademokoya had through her numerous radio programmes impacted positively in the lives of not only Kwarans but Nigerians.
He added that Ademokoya left a legacy of hardwork, commitment, meticulous and uprightness.
He however, prayed God to grant the family she left behind the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
The late sexagenarian, Ademokoya Agboola, a seasoned broadcaster is survived by family, children and grandchildren.
According to the family, the burial arrangements will be announced to the public in due time.
She is an indigene of Ilesa, Osun state.
