Some members of the ruling All Progressives Congress,APC in Moro local government area in the Northern senatorial district of Kwara state have voiced their dissatisfaction towards the alleged sidelining of their part of the districts in political consideration.
The members who referred to themselves as ‘APC concerned members’ made public their apprehension in a press statement signed by one Alhaji Mohammad Mariam Al-Hassan.
The group complained that their local government area is often overlooked in consideration for political posts accrued to the Kwara North Senatorial district especially the senate and house of representative berths.
They said, “Kwara North have five Local Government Areas of Baruten, Edu, Kaiama, Moro and Patigi. Since 1999 when the country returned to democracy, Moro has never had opportunity to represent us at both the House of Representatives and Senate.
“Instead, the positions have always been rotated between Baruten, Edu, Kaiama, and Patigi Local Government Areas.
“Also, the four Local Government Areas, still have opportunity of having two House of Representatives members to represent us in the Green Chamber.” they wrote.
They however appealed to other four local government areas to consider Moro in the spirit of natural justice of equity and fairness, as a full practical demonstration of love, unity of purpose and in diversity, and give them sense of belonging in the Senatorial Constituency.
“In the spirit of natural justice of equity and fairness, and as a full practical demonstration of love, unity of purpose and in diversity, we should give sense of belonging to our fellow brothers in Moro of our Senatorial Constituency.
“Morally, giving consideration and maximum support to Moro to represent us in the Red Chamber this time around is justifiable.” the statement reads in part.
The group however named Engr Daud Tauheed Toyin as their preferred candidate to secure the party’s ticket ahead of the 2023 general elections.
They also urged the people of Moro local government area to join hands to support their cause, saying that,” we are using this opportunity to call on the good people of MORO, to close ranks and join us in prayers in the actualisation of this desirable noble cause.”
