The Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa has emerged as the running mate for the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ,Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
The news was broken by Alhaji Atiku on Thursday in his post on his verified social media accounts.
The former vice-president expressed his delight at the emergence of Okowa, saying that, “I am delighted to announce Governor Ifeanyi A. Okowa as my Vice Presidential candidate.
“I look forward to travelling our great country together, engaging with all Nigerians and building a shared future of peace, unity, and prosperity for all. As One We Can Get It Done. #OneNigeria.” He said.
The Delta State Governor edge out his fellow hopefuls, Akwa Ibom governor, Udom Emmanuel and his Rivers State counterpart, Nyesom Wike to pick up the slot.
The decision was made by a committee inaugurated by the party on Friday consisting of the representatives of the National Working Committee and the Board of Trustees members as well as former governors.
