The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has condemned the recent alleged attack of popular gospel musician, Yinka Ayefele by one of its officers.
It will be recall that Ayefele who was in Ekiti to entertain some guests was allegedly assaulted by an officer of NSCDC.
It was gathered that the randy officer allegedly attempted to take money from Ayefele’s car.
Sources said that the officer allegedly punched Ayefele in the mouth and also threatened to shoot him for refusing to give them money.
Our correspondent recalls that the incident occurred in Iloro Ekiti in Ekiti state.
NSCDC has however condemned the alleged attack.
Director of Public Relations of NSCDC, Olusola Odumosu in a statement made available to DAILY POST on Thursday added that the NSCDC do not in any way condone any act of recklessness.
He maintained that the NSCDC will not allow any of its officers to assault on any individual or group of persons.
He spoke further by saying that the Corps wishes to tender an unreserved apology Ayefele and his followers.
Odumosu while speaking further insisted that the Commandant General has ordered that all concerned officers be identified and summoned immediately to the National Headquarters.
He added that necessary disciplinary action would be taken against the officers.
He said, “The Corps under the leadership of Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has zero tolerance for corruption, indiscipline and any atrocious behaviour inimical to the safety and security of the citizens of this country.
“We do not in any way condone any act of recklessness, impudence or assault on any individual or group of persons nor Infringement on the fundamental human rights of citizens whether highly or lowly placed.
“Consequently, the Commandant General has ordered that all concerned officers be identified and summoned immediately to the National Headquarters for necessary disciplinary action”.
