Saraki, Wife Pay Condolence Visits to Offa, Erin-Ile

Former President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, and his wife, Toyin on Friday paid condolence visits to Offa and Erin-Ile following the deaths of renowned Professor of Geology, Prof. Jimoh Mosobalaje Oyawoye and the Elerin of Erin-Ile, Oba Abdulganiyu Ajibola Olusokun Il respectively.
In Offa, Saraki condoled the Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Esuwoye, over the sad passing of late Oyawoye, describing the renowned Geologist as one of the best brains that God blessed Kwara State with.
According to the Press Officer on Home Matters, Abdulganiyu Abdulqadir, the Waziri Ngeri of Ilorin, prayed to God almighty to grant the deceased peaceful rest.
The Olofa, while welcoming Saraki and his entourage appreciated them for the visit and prayed God Almighty to reward their goodwill.
From the Palace, Saraki went over to Oyawoye’s family to condole them over the painful passing of the foremost Professor of Geology.
The former Senate President noted that the scholar will be remembered for his meaningful contribution to Offa and for making Kwara proud, adding that the late Oyawoye was a father figure whom he enjoyed his counselling during his time as Governor.
Alhaji Kosamatu Oyawoye, speaking on behalf of the family, appreciated Saraki and his entire entourage and prayed to God to continue to be with the former Senate President of Nigeria in his endeavors.
He noted that the visit means a lot to them as a family and natives of Offa.
The Saraki entourage proceeded to Erin-Ile to commiserate with the royal family and the entire community over the demise of the late Elerin, Oba Abdulganiyu Ajibola Olusokun Il.
They were received by members of the royal family and traditional chiefs.
The statesman showered encomium on the late monarch, saying he would be remembered always for his meekness, listening ears, and advocacy for peace.
Saraki eulogized the late Elerin for his fatherly roles and developmental strides while he was on the throne.
“Baba was a father to all. He always gave a listening ear and was passionate about the development of his town and Kwara as a whole,” he said.
“I appreciate Baba for his support for our family and his counsel to me all the time. I will always miss him.”
Responding on behalf of the family, one of the sons of the deceased, Prince Abdulwasiu Abdulganiyu, appreciated the Waziri Ngeri of Ilorin, Dr. Saraki, his wife, and his entourage for counting them worthy of the visit.
The bereaved family also thanked the former Governor for his support for the town all the time and prayed God to grant the Saraki entourage, a safe trip back home.
Saraki who signed the condolence register, also visited the Elerin Palace to condole with the Elerin -in -Council.
