Refrigerator Sold For N20,000, King size bed,N40,000 As Govt Auctions Kwara Hotel Properties

Properties of the kwara state owned 4 Star hotel, Kwara hotel are now being auctioned, National Pilot can report.
The auctioning which commenced yesterday ( Wednesday) was still ongoing as at the of filing this report on Thursday.
The premises of the hotel was a beehive of activities as interested buyers who stormed the place jostle to purchase various items available to be disposed of.
The properties, it was gathered, was sold off at a very ridiculous price.
Refrigerators, most of which were said to still be in good condition were allegedly sold for a mere N20,000.
Also, executive, King-size beds with mattress were sold off for a ridiculous N40,000.
Other items sold at give away price include fans, air conditioners, industrial generating sets, rugs etc.
Eight companies, it was gathered, initially bid for the auctioning and four were eventually selected.
Kwara State Government had in October last year directed the shutdown of the ailing hotel pending its rehabilitation and repositioning.
The then Commissioner for Business, Innovation and Technology (BIT) Ibrahim Akaje said the shutdown was a forerunner to many interventions that will be done to bring the hotel back to life.
The government decision was done via a statement which read:“The government has approved immediate shut down of the facility while rehabilitation and repositioning is done. A section of it had long become dilapidated and totally unusable. It therefore needs to be shut down for safety reasons. Further steps will be taken in phases to restore the glory of the hotel and return it to productivity”.
