Kwara PDP primary elections set new standards for transparency, credibility, says Saraki’s Press Officer as Esinrogunjo picks party ticket

The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) primary election in Ilorin West Local Government has been hailed as the most transparent and credible election in the state’s history.

The Press Officer to the president of the 8th Nigerian Senate, Dr Bukola Saraki, on local matters Abdulqadir Abdulganiyu, praised the election’s integrity while speaking to journalists at the primary election venue on Thursday.

Abdulganiyu who is from Ubandawaki Ward,commended the PDP electoral officers in Ilorin West for their exemplary conduct, noting that the election was held in an open and inclusive manner, allowing participation from all party members across the twelve wards, including statutory officers within the Local Government Area.

Expressing confidence in the PDP’s resurgence, Abdulganiyu assured party members, stakeholders, and loyalists that the party is committed to policies that will positively impact the lives of Kwarans.

He emphasized that the primary election process demonstrated the party’s preparedness to reclaim power in 2027. He also urged aspirants to view the primary not as a do-or-die affair but as an opportunity to strengthen party unity and cooperation.

Meanwhile, eight aspirants from various wards of Ilorin West initially expressed interest, but four withdrew voluntarily, leaving four to compete in the primary.

The primary election concluded with Comrade Musbau Esinrogunjo emerging as the candidate to represent PDP in the upcoming Ilorin West local government elections.

Out of 207 votes cast by delegates, Esinrogunjo Musbau raked in 166 votes, securing his victory. Esinrogunjo was the senior special assistant on rural mobilization to Kwara State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.
