The Kano State House of Assembly has refuted the claims that it has not resumed plenary sessions due to security concerns related to ongoing emirate disputes.
The spokesperson for the Speaker, Kamaluddeen Shawai, addressed the rumors during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday, labeling the circulating news as “simply fake and baseless.”
Shawai called on the residents of Kano to dismiss any reports suggesting that the assembly’s delay in resuming plenary is linked to insecurity stemming from the emirate tussle.
“The purported fear of attacks and delay in resuming the plenary are nothing but the works of mischievous elements within society. The assembly will resume plenary very soon,” he assured.
He emphasized the assembly’s dedication to collaborating with Governor Abba Kabir-Yusuf for the state’s development. Shawai also encouraged residents to continue praying for peace and unity in both the state and the country.
