Ex Kwara Lawmakers, Adamu Isa Bawa Mourn Patigi

The forum of former members of the Kwara State House of Assembly has publicly expressed its grief following the passing of Hon. Ahmad Baggo Patigi, a prominent politician and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State. Patigi passed away on Thursday after a brief illness at age 59.
In an official statement released by the forum, signed by its Chairman, Hon. (Dr.) Abraham Ashaolu, and Secretary, Hon. Bola Mogaji, the ex-lawmakers shared their “shock” at the unexpected loss. They described Hon. Patigi as “a foremost ex-lawmaker” whose contributions to the advancement of parliamentary democracy will be remembered for years to come.
“The forum of former members of the Kwara State House of Assembly expresses deep sadness and shock over the sudden passing of Hon. Ahmad Baggo Patigi,” the statement read. The lawmakers honored Patigi’s enduring legacy, noting his commitment to democracy and dedication to public service.
The forum also extended heartfelt condolences to Patigi’s family, the Etsu Patigi, the Patigi community, and all residents of the Edu/Patigi/Moro federal constituency. “We condole with the immediate family of the deceased, the Etsu Patigi, the Patigi community, and the entire people of Edu/Patigi/Moro federal constituency on this unfortunate incident,” the statement continued.
Urging the family and community to find comfort in Patigi’s exemplary life, the statement concluded with a prayer, asking that “God grant the deceased the best of paradise and strengthen the family he left behind.”
Also, in a heartfelt message, PDP National Ex-Officio, Hon. Adamu Isa Bawa, conveyed his condolences to the family, friends, and the entire Patigi community, describing Patigi’s death as a “significant loss not only to Patigi but also to Kwara State and the nation at large.”
“With a deep sense of loss and profound sadness, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and the entire people of Patigi on the passing of Hon. Aliyu Bahago Ahman Patigi, the Galadima of Patigi and former member of the House of Representatives,” Bawa stated. He noted that Patigi’s contributions extended beyond the walls of the legislative chamber, impacting lives across Kwara State and leaving an indelible mark on the nation.
Reflecting on Patigi’s legacy, Bawa described him as “a beacon of leadership, known for his unwavering commitment to his people and his impactful contributions to the legislative process.” He continued, “His title as Galadima of Patigi exemplified his role as a custodian of tradition, culture, and public service, which he carried out with humility, honor, and dedication.”
Bawa also extended his sympathies to His Royal Highness, the Etsu Patigi, Alhaji Ibrahim Umar Bologi II, honoring Patigi as “a revered and distinguished son of the community.” He praised Patigi’s lifelong dedication to leadership and culture, emphasizing that his passing leaves an irreplaceable void.
Concluding his message, Bawa offered prayers, saying, “May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings, accept his good deeds, and grant him Aljanah Firdaus.” He added, “We also pray that Allah grants the Etsu Patigi, his family, and the entire Patigi Emirate the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss.”
