The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed another kidnapping incident that occurred at about 5:45 p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Eleyin village, near Isanlu-Isin — marking the second such incident reported within a week in the state.
This latest attack follows closely on the heels of another disturbing incident near Obbo-Aiyegunle, in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State where seven passengers traveling from the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, to Offa were abducted by suspected kidnappers, leaving behind three children at the scene.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, explained that “about five armed men blocked the highway, stopping two private vehicles and forcefully taking all occupants to an unknown location.”
Following the distress call, the Command, in collaboration with the Military and Vigilante groups, launched a swift rescue operation. “A swift operation was launched, leading to the successful rescue of two victims, Ganiyu Ajayi and Kolawole Adeyemi,” Ejire-Adeyemi stated.
The police spokesperson added that “efforts are ongoing to rescue the remaining victims and apprehend the perpetrators.” She further said that the Command has intensified security measures across the area, noting, “We have embarked on aggressive bush combing, strategic patrols, and intelligence-driven operations to prevent further occurrences.”
Amid growing concerns over insecurity, the Kwara police reassured residents of the Command’s readiness to protect lives and property. “We assure the public that robust strategies are in place to tackle criminal activities and safeguard lives and property across the State,” the police stated.
The police therefore, urged residents to “remain calm, vigilant, and supportive by providing timely and credible information to security agencies,” promising that “further updates will be provided as necessary.”
