Osi – Obbo Aiyegunle Kidnapping: Families Cry Out, Seek Kwara Govt’s Intervention as Victims Spend 12 Days in Captivity

Families of seven persons who were kidnapped two weeks ago along the Abuja–Offa highway near Osi and Obbo Aiyejunle in Kwara State, have appealed to the Kwara State Government, the State House of Assembly, traditional rulers, and well-meaning individuals to assist in efforts to secure the release of their loved ones who have now spent 12 days in captivity.

The victims who are men and women returning from Abuja to Offa, were abducted by unknown gunmen on Saturday, April 19, 2025 and have remained in the custody of their captors.

In a statement issued by Mr. Rasaq Olayinka Jimoh on behalf of the affected families, the families expressed deep concern over the prolonged detention of their relatives, noting “the appeal became necessary as their kidnapped families members are suffering in agony despite the fact that the families have met the requirements of their adductors.”

The statement added that “the two captives kidnapped after their victims have been released adding that all efforts made by the kidnapped families have not yet yielded any good result.”

The statement lamented the emotional, psychological, and financial toll the incident has taken on families, stating that “families have been suffering since the beginning of the sad event 12 days ago.”

They therefore urged the Kwara State Government and other stakeholders to act swiftly to ensure the safe return of the victims, stressing that any form of assistanceno matter how smallwould go a long way in alleviating their suffering and speeding up the rescue process.

“The families then appealed to the Kwara State government, house of assembly, local governments in Kwara state as well as other individuals and groups to assist so that their victims in agonies feel a high sign of relief.

“The kidnapped families added that since the families have been in captives, they have never enjoyed any good and comfortable life while the families have been having sleepless nights.

“The families therefore reiterated their appeal to the KWSG, law makers, to a traditional rulers and other other well meaning individuals and groups to assist in one way or the to bail out their kidnapped families from this unfortunate incident so that they too can regain freedom as in the case of the two people who were recently kidnapped on the same route and were released in to distant time by their abductors,” the statement read.
