Seventeen individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud have been apprehended by operatives from the Ilorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in a series of coordinated sting operations across parts of Kwara State.
According to a press release issued on Tuesday night by the Head of Media and Publicity of EFCC, Dele Oyewale, the arrests were carried out in various locations including Asa Dam, the Al-Hikmah University axis, and Gaa-Odota in Ilorin, as well as Ganmo and Amoyo communities in the Ifelodun Local Government Area.
“The arrests which took place on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, followed actionable intelligence that linked the suspects to fraudulent internet activities in the state.
“Items recovered from them upon arrest include three luxury vehicles, high-end mobile phones and laptop computers,” the statement added.
This latest round of arrests came just a week after a similar operation in the state led to the arrest of 47 individuals allegedly involved in internet fraud.
The EFCC therefore noted that all suspects will face prosecution following the completion of ongoing investigations.
