Why Ganduje Resigned as APC National Chairman

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has resigned from his position, bringing his tenure to an abrupt end.
The former Kano State Governor reportedly cited health challenges as the primary reason behind his decision, noting the need to prioritize his personal well-being.
However, sources close to the matter alleged that Ganduje’s resignation may not be entirely voluntary. The sources claimed that mounting pressure from key figures in the North-Central geopolitical zone played a significant role. The region is said to be pushing for the chairmanship to return to its fold, amid growing dissatisfaction with Ganduje’s leadership approach.
His departure takes effect immediately, according to a post shared Friday on X (formerly Twitter) by Bashir Ahmad, a former aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari.
Ahmad wrote: “The National Chairman of our great party, the All Progressives Congress(APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has resigned from his position, effective immediately, as confirmed by multiple sources.”
