UTME: Nigerian varsities fix admission cut-off marks

 

Tertiary institutions in the country have fixed cut-off marks for admissions in the 2017/2018 academic session.

According to reports, the cut-off marks, decided by the Senate and management of each institution, have also been sent to the Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB).

PREMIUM TIMES obtained the full details of the admission scores from JAMB and as directed by the examination body, none of the universities have cut-off marks below 120.

Also, none of the polytechnics and colleges of education have cut-off marks below 100.

With only one-third of students who sat for JAMB scored above 200, University of Ilorin, which is the most sought after tertiary institution in Nigeria is said to have pegged its cut off mark at 180.

Universities like Afe Babalola, Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, Covenant, Sango-Ota, Ogun State. Oduduwa,also in Ogun State and PAN-Atlantic , Lagos State and others have set their cut-off mark at 180 while Babcock, Landmark, Redeemers University have reportedly all pegged theirs at 170.

Edo State University, Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, Lagos State University, American University, Yola and Bells University have set 160 as their cut off mark.

Those that have allegedly agreed on 150 as their cut off mark include; Lead City University, Oyo State, Nigeria Turkish University, Abuja, among others.

Others are; Bayero University, Kano (180), University of Benin (200), University of Ibadan (200), Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife (200) , Lagos State University (190), Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomosho (180) and University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State (180).

For PAN African College of Education, Offa and other colleges of education in Kwara State, the cut-off is pegged at 100, same for College of Education, Katsina-Ala and Gboko College of Education, Benue State.

Federal Polytechnic Offa has its cut off mark put at 125, Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi (150), Federal Polytechnic Ede (150), Federal Polytechnic, Bida, Kogi State (140) and Kaduna Polytechnic (150).
