5 players that can replace Moses in Eagles

These five players have the natural ability to become better players than Victor Moses for the Super Eagles. Chelsea forward Victor Moses on August 15 shocked football loving Nigerians when he announced his international retirement from the Super Eagles, Here are five players that can take his place in Gernot Rohr’s team.
Henry Onyekuru: Henry Onyekuru is already a known quantity with the Super Eagles but with Victor Moses retired it is now time Gernot Rohr gives him a more prominent role in the attack.
Onyekuru who recently completed a loan move from Everton to Galatasaray is one of the highly rated young prospects in world football.
He missed a call-up for the 2018 FIFA World Cup because of an injury he sustained in the 2018/19 season with Anderlecht.
At 21-years-old Onyekuru is still in his developing phase as a footballer but is the exact same age when Victor Moses was given an opportunity with the Super Eagles by the late Stephen Keshi.
Onyekuru is still very much a raw talent but possesses the quality to soar to the height that Victor Moses achieved with the national team.
Samuel Kalu: Another potential candidate to replace Victor Moses is pacy winger Samuel Kalu.
Samuel Kalu recently completed a move to French side Bordeaux from KAA Gent and was handed the number 10 jersey.
Highly rated in Europe even before his move to KAA Gent from AS Trencin.
He is still 21-year-old but was brought in to replace Brazilian forward Malcom who departed for Barcelona.
He has the pace and tricks to be a top-class player and is a talent Gernot should bring into the Super Eagles fold capable of replacing Victor Moses.
Taiwo Awoniyi: Unlike Victor Moses who played down the flanks, Taiwo Awoniyi is a more direct threat at goal which he has proven over time.
Awoniyi recently completed a loan move fromLiverpool to KAA Gent and is highly rated by Jurgen Klopp.
Still, 20-year-old Awoniyi can operate in several positions across the attack but is more suited to a central position.
If Gernot Rohr wants more goal threat in his team Awoniyi is the right man to call up to the Super Eagles even though he doesn’t have similar characteristics to Victor Moses.
Sadiq Umar: Sadiq Umar recently joined Rangers on loan from AS Roma and is destined for big things under former Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard.
Most Nigerians are already familiar with the forward following his exploits for the Dream Team at the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil.
Tall and strong Umar is not a player with similar strength as Moses as he likes to play centrally.
However, he has paid his dues and is due to a call-up to the Super Eagles ow that Moses is out of the picture.
Umar is more of a striker but he has been steadily developing especially after his loan move to NAC Breda last season and should be considered by Gernot Rohr.
Isaac Success: Another potential replacement for Victor Moses is Watford striker Isaac Success, who has been in and out of the Super Eagles fold for a while.
Success was part of the Golden Eaglets team that won the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup along with Leicester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho, while the latter has gone on to be a pivotal part of the senior national team, Success has struggled for consistency.
The tall striker is set for another season in the Premier League after he suffered relegation with Malaga in Spain, but with regular game time he has proven he can deliver on the biggest stages which makes him an ideal replacement for Victor Moses.
Gernot Rohr was set to drop some big names following the World Cup group stage exit, but with Moses now retired these players should be given a chance to step up for the Super Eagles.
