Bankers paint Ilorin white with aerobic exercise

Bankers in Kwara State took to major streets within Ilorin metropolis at the weekend to engage in series of aerobic exercise.

The exercise, which involved more than ten different banks started with the road work exercise in the major city of Ilorin around 7:30 am on Saturday morning.

The bankers in their large numbers started the road work exercise in front of Kwara State Stadium Complex, Ilorin and passed through Unity Road and Challenge area.

They returned to the stadium complex, through Stadium Road after about two hours on the street and thereafter assembled at the Kwara Football Academy complex to complete the rest of the exercise.

Speaking after the exercise, the Chairman of Kwara State Bankers Forum, Mr. Olatunde Akande, said the exercise was part of strategy to unite the bankers in the state.

“Basically, in a month, we ensure that we have a manager’s meeting where we trashed out similar issues that will bring us together as one.

“Since we work in similar sector, we want to make sure that all the bankers working on the same platform come together on the same pitch and show love among ourselves.

“We would also look at organising a ‘Cinema Day’ and watch a movie that will basically have positive impact on our job,” Olatunde said.

He said further that the forum is looking forward to ensuring that the community feels their presence, as they intend to donate items to motherless babies homes, as well as hospitals.

He also noted that the forum will visit schools and give career talks to impact knowledge on the upcoming youths.

Also speaking, the Secretary General, Ilorin Bank Managers Forum, Mr. Kazeem Salawu of UBA revealed the importance of the exercise.

He also said the association is looking forward to organising more sporting activities among their members.

“We just decided to take our time out to exercise our body and burn the fat as you all know bankers are usually having busy schedule and doing exercise is part of healthy living.

“We are planning to have sports week, which is going to take like two weeks. We are going to have athletics, table tennis, scrabble and other important sports,” Salawu revealed.
