C & S youths embark on public evangelism, community service

As part of activities marking their annual week, the youths of Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church, District Headquarters, Muritala, Ilorin, on Saturday  embarked on a community service at Agbede community in Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The community service which was mainly to clean the community and its environs had as its theme, personal hygiene and environmental cleanliness.

It featured free medical checkup and counseling of members of the community. Gifts like food items and liquid soap were also distributed to members of the community.

Explaining the rationale behind the event, the president of the Youth Fellowship, Evangelist Oluwafemi Dairo stated that the main reason for the programme is to encourage residents of these communities to take their hygiene seriously.

He lamented that since the disappearance of sanitation officers Nigerians have neglected their hygiene.

“Apart from personal and physical hygiene we are also calling people to run away from spiritual filth which is more deadly.”

Buttressing this, the vice president of the fellowship, Pastor Olawale Ajayi who flagged off the public evangelism at the community told members of the community that one of the factors that contributed to a healthy life is imbibing the culture of cleanliness. He urged them to constantly observe good hygiene, proper disposal of wastes, cleaning of sewages and drainages and clearing of bushes in the environment among others.

However, he pointed out that, “more than these physical filth, the spiritual filth can affect your eternity as the stench that comes from sin drives one far away from the presence of God into eternal damnation and that is why we have come to you to urge you to accept Jesus Christ as your lord and saviour for He is the way, the truth and the life.”

The Magaji, Agbede, Alhaji Abdullahi Omope Akande, while commending the youths expressed his appreciation for the gifts and free medical services rendered.

“Health is wealth, so I am very happy with everything they have come here to do today, they swept our community and carried the dirt away, cleaned our gutters, fumigated the bushes and even gave us gifts and free medical services. God will reward them,” he said.

According to the secretary of the fellowship, Oyeniyi Oluwaseun, about 116 members of the community came out to benefit from the community service.

Over 50 youths of the fellowship participated in the community service with some doctors, matrons and nurses.
