Cleric tasks Muslims on violence

By Suleiman Ahmed

Worried by the rampant acts of violence and insecurity that has become rampant in the society, the Imam of Sultanate Central Mosque, Adewole, Ustaz Sultan Kamaldeen has tasked the Muslims and the youth to shun acts of lawlessness in accordance with the teachings of Islam.
The Imam said this at the Jumau’at service during the sermon (Khutba) shortly before the two-unit prayer held recently.
He noted that Islam did not condone or preach violence and killings, adding that anyone who commits murder or breaks the country’s law should face the punishment from the relevant authorities and Almighty Allah.
According to him, Islam is a peaceful religion that advocates oneness of Allah and simple to practice than any other religion contrary to the narrative out there.
He said Islam is a religion that is rooted in the unity of the message of the entire Prophets of Allah which has been passed from generation to generation.
Kamaldeen said Islam preaches equal right among Muslims and non-Muslims alike and called on faithful to always fear Allah and give what is due to people irrespective of their faith.
He further harped on forgiveness to others, acts of corruption and anything that is contrary to the commandment and injunctions of Allah.
“Islam as a religion emphasizes forgiveness of sins of those who seek forgiveness and never returned to such act again. The religion has no compulsion. Anyone who has been given the wherewithal and intellect should use it to advance the cause of Islam.
“Muslims should shun worldly things and remember the day of judgement in whatever we do because there is accountability.
“The Prophet (SAW) asked us not to split religion because we are one Ummah with the most complete ways of life. Islam is a religion of all the prophets.
