The recall crisis rocking the Offa chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) took a new twist at the weekend as the party accused a serving House of Representatives member and a former senatorial candidate of being behind the recall threat against the Leader of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon Hassan Oyeleke.

Oyeleke is representing Eesa/Shawo/Igbodun Constituency of Offa Local Government.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Kwara South Senatorial District of the party, ‎Chief John Adebayo Ogundiran, said facts before their disposal revealed that an ex-senatorial candidate groused over his loss in the 2015 general elections is behind the recall saga of the lawmaker

The party also accused a member of the lower arm of the National Assembly of sponsoring the process due to his dwindling chances of securing re-election ticket in 2019.

Seven councillors, who hail from Eesa/Shawo/Igbodun Constituency in Offa Local Government Area of the state, including the Chairman of Offa Local Government, Arch. Abdulateef Gbadamosi; the party Chairman in Offa, Alhaji Azeez Aro, attended the media briefing in Ilorin at the weekend.

The party was however refused to name the alleged sponsors behind the threat.

Ogundiran‎ took a swipe at what he called “Mufutau-Adeyemo-led-Pull-Oyeleke-Down-Agenda” and urged lovers of democracy to halt the recall process against the lawmaker,

He said the move was aimed at subjecting the institution of democracy to public ridicule.

According to him, Adeyemo, the spokesman of those seeking the recall of the Kwara House of Assembly Leader, was doing the bidding of his masters as part of his ambition to secure a futile supervisory councillorship seat.

He said the lawmaker, in spite of the economic misfortune experienced in the country and shortfall in allocations to the states of the federation, remained accessible and available for assistance in different ways.

Ogundiran maintained that Oyeleke had facilitated employment opportunities and developmental projects to Offa town and influenced others ‎captured in the 2018 budget adding that he remained committed to scaling all heights, fathom depths and traverse horizons to ensure the people of his constituents enjoy the dividends of democracy,

He assured that Oyeleke would not be distracted by the actions of the proponents of the recall process, because he enjoys the confidence and support of traditional rulers, religious and party leaders, youths and stakeholders.

“We read with dismay, the purported recall process initiated by Mufutau Adeyemo and a host of others against Hon, Hassan Oyeleke…in furtherance of the execution of the mischievous plot to subject the personality of the lawmaker to public ridicule.

“The recall process was actually a case of the ‘The hands of Esau and the Voice of Jacob’. We had it on good authority that it was the brainchild of a veteran senatorial candidate, who still bellyaches for being made to record just 9000 votes in Offa and losing to the incumbent in the 2015 election. He has also found a willing ally in a National Assembly member, who currently entertains fear of the unknown over possible second term in the Federal Lower House.

“The man, who stands as the megaphone for the Pull-Oyeleke-Down agenda, Mufutau Adeyemo, is equally a veteran councillorship candidate, who has however been very far away from victory and currently lobbying for a Supervisory Councillorship… Ogundiran said.
