Flood Victims: Kwara receives relief material from NEMA

 

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has provided relief materials to 2018 flood victims in Kwara State.
While receiving the relief materials from NEMA and State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) officials on Monday at his palace, the Etsu Patigi, Alhaji Ibrahim Chatta Umar commended the Federal Government for its intervention towards assisting the flood victims.
The Etsu during the symbolic presentation and official flag-off for the distribution of the relief materials said the gesture would no doubt go a long way to cushion the effect of their current travails and alleviate the sufferings of the people. He added that the materials would also assist in boosting their economic wellbeing.
Alhaji Chatta Umar, used the occasion to request the federal and state government to as a matter of urgency, dredge the river Niger for a permanent solution to incessant flooding which usually result to loss of lives and property of the people
Speaking further, he said that the dredging could have some economic impact and employment opportunity to the people of the area.
Similarly, the Special Adviser on Emergency Management and Relief Services to the Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Rasaq Akanbi Jimoh, appreciated the FG and NEMA for the magnanimity in considering Kwara as one of the beneficiaries.
He however requested the D-G NEMA, Alhaji Mustapha Maihaja, to expedite action on other pending requests of the state. Relief materials worth millions of naira were received and later distributed to the people former speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Benjamin Ezekiel Isa at the palace.
Among the items distributed are; Semolina, Sugar, Spaghetti, Maggi and Indomie noodles.
