Ifelodun LG boss emerges Kwara ALGON chair

The chairman of Ifelodun local government, Fatai Adeniyi Garba (Labaka) from Oke-Ode III has emerged as the new chairman of the Kwara State chapter of the Association of All Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON).
Garba who was elected last week replaced Hajia Funmi Salau who had held the post while during her tenure as the Transition Implementation Committee (TIC) of Ilorin South.
Other members of the committee will be sworn in on Wednesday at ALGON secretariat, it was gathered.
The new ALGON chair is the longest serving local government personnel among the 16 council chairman and regarded as the most experienced.
This medium also gathered last night that his emergence may not be unconnected with the poor performance of some local governments in the emirate in the last council election.
Some party leaders in local governments like Ilorin West, East, South, Asa and Moro in the last council election suffered heavy loses in their the wards to the opposition.
A source said the development informed the decision to take the ALGON chairmanship to Kwara South.
Following the development, two candidates, Labaka and Ekiti council boss, Yinka Dallas emerged as frontrunners.
Dallas spoke on behalf of the sixteen chairmen after their inauguration by Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed the Government House last week Tuesday.
But it was gathered that the rich experience of Labaka in council administration stood in his favour and for being a former chairman of the state chapter of ALGON.
The development has caused serious disquiet among the ruling party leading to the inauguration of a fact finding committee to unravel the circumstance and provide solution.
Recall that Garuba had told this medium while as TIC chairman for Ifelodun that his administration will prioritise rural development and try to curb rural-urban migration.
