The Chairman of the court-recognised All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, Hon. Ishola Balogun-Fulani has called on the state police command and other security agencies to stop an illegal rally billed to hold today (Thursday) at the campaign office of a factional gubernatorial candidate, AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq, along Fate road, Ilorin.
Balogun-Fulani made the call last night in a statement he personally signed and made available to newsmen in Ilorin.
The APC Chairman while drawing the attention of the police and other security agencies to the plan by AbdulRahzaq’s group to hold the illegal rally, said, “Allowing these impostors parading themselves as leaders and candidates of the factional APC will be tantamount to disrespect for the rule of law and contempt of court.”
Balogun- Fulani further stated that going by the judgement of a state high court; he remains the authentic chairman of APC in the state while Hon. Kayode AbdulWahab Omotoshe remains the legal and authentic governorship candidate of the party in the state. He expressed delight that the state police command has adhered to the court judgement “through their invitation to me as APC chairman in the state and Hon. Kayode Abdulwahab as our governorship candidate to attend Tuesday’s stakeholders’ forum on the 2019 general elections at the command’s headquarters in Ilorin.
“I and Hon. Kayode Abdulwahab were duly invited by the police for the stakeholders’ meeting involving all political parties in the state on Tuesday. We were at the meeting as APC chairman and governorship candidate and no one else showed up as APC representative. “
He, therefore, asked the police to stop the illegal rally being planned by AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq “as a further proof of their obedience of the court judgement on Kwara APC.”
The APC Chairman thanked the hierarchy of the state police command for their decision to uphold the rule of law by adhering to court judgement which declared the party’s executives led by him as the authentic APC executive in the state.
Balogun- Fulani also urged other critical stakeholders in the affairs of the state to prevail on Abdulezaq and his team to allow peace to reign in the state by stop parading themselves as leaders and candidates of the APC in” flagrant disobedience of court’s order. “
