The Etsu Pategi, Alhaji Ibrahim Chatta Umar has directed his subjects to vote for the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the February 16 and March 2 general elections.

Etsu gave the marching order at his palace yesterday when he hosted the campaign team of the PDP led by the Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed.

The frontline monarch who expressed his surprise on the governor’s visit said he had assured the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki of his support and that of his people the last time the former Kwara governor visited his palace.

He added: “As I have told my people we shall try as much as possible to go for the PDP. All my people know where I’m going. I will send my emissaries to the hinterland on our position regarding the elections. We are in Kwara, we must go with Kwara. We are in government we must go with the government.

“Those our boys with you have done very well. Those that are coming will do well also. We shall work for you and God will help us. I assured the Senate President when he came here that we are for him. So, I’m surprised by this visit.”

Earlier, the Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, had stressed the need for the people of the state to vote for PDP in the coming elections.

He expressed confidence that the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar will emerge victorious in the poll, adding that Kwara must not be left behind as the PDP will form government at the centre.

Ahmed, who explained the zoning of governorship seat to Kwara central by his party, reassured Etsu Pategi that “the governorship seat shall come to Kwara North in 2023.”

He asked Nigerians to change the present narrative of insecurity, economic challenges and hunger by voting for Atiku on Saturday.

“Atiku is needed to take us out of religious and ethnicity differences and more importantly the security challenges across the country. Come Saturday, PDP will come out victorious and Nigeria and indeed Kwara will enjoy better future for voting Atiku,” he declared.

The Emir of Kaiama, Alhaji Muazu Shehu Omar, on Friday pledged the allegiance of his Emirate to Saraki political dynasty.

He, therefore, assured the national leader of the Peoples Demicratic Party(PDP) and Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki that his people will deliver bloc votes to the PDP in the forthcoming general elections.

The monarch who eulogised the virtues of the late patriarch of Saraki political dynasty, Dr Olusola Saraki, gave the assurance at his palace when Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed led the PDP’s campaign train to Kaiama Local Government Area.

He said: “Kaiama has been with Saraki dynasty since the time of the late Dr Olusola Saraki. We have always voted for Saraki’s party and we shall repeat the feat in the coming elections. The incoming governor, Hon. Razak Atunwa has been a part of us and we shall vote for him and other candidates of the PDP.”

Earlier, Governor Ahmed told the Emir that the Senate President has brought the PDP “that will give us a better Nigeria.”

Ahmed added: “We have brought a PDP that will give us a better Nigeria. We opted to go with the PDP because PDP has agenda for the people of Kwara State.

“If we vote for PDP, our leader will retain his position as the nation’s number three citizen and that will bring a lot of benefit to our people.”

He reassured the people of the zone that they will produce the state’s governor in 2023, vowing that” our words will be our bond Insha Allah. PDP will usher in good governance in Kwara state. Atunwa has the requisite experience to take the state to greater height.”

At Banni, Gwaria and Kaiama, where rallies were addressed, the PDP governorship candidate, Hon. Razak Atunwa, assured the people that if elected, his administration will ensure massive infrastructure development in the local government.

He said roads will be constructed while there will be provision of potable water and upgrading of health and educational facilities across the local government area.
