Kwara CP calls for synergy in fight against crime

The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Lawal Ado has called for synergy between members of the society and the state police command in other to rid the state of crime.

The CP made the call during his familiarisation visit to the Management of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin.

Ado who noted that security is a collective responsibility of all stakeholders, solicited for the support of the Polytechnic community in the command’s fight against crime in Kwara.

The CP lamented the rate at which cultism is spreading among the youths, saying it’s not only among students of tertiary institutions but even with artisans.

He said the command will not tolerate any form of social vices from any member of the society; thus, police is now going into community policing to ensure effective and efficient service delivery.

Ado urged members of the public to always give relevant information to the police to assist them in the discharge of their duties.

Responding, the Rector, Alh. Mas’ud Elelu lauded the command for its support at all times, noting that security of lives and property of both staff and students is Paramount to the management.

Elelu noted that the polytechnic is an old institution which has its own fair share of security challenges but with the support of the police and other security personnel present within the two campuses, the polytechnic had been able to overcome some of its security challenges.

The Rector, who pledged the polytechnic’s readiness to partner with the police, solicited for the support of the commissioner in providing vehicle for Oke-Oyi Division to enable them engage in routine patrol within the campus as they used to do.

He assured the CP that criminals will not have hiding place within the polytechnic as the management will not relent in its efforts at exposing any criminal act.
