KWAYEP Programme: KWSG engages 2,000 youths in MDAs

In a bid to reduce rate of unemployment to the barest minimum,  the Kwara State government under the leadership of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed has employed no fewer than  2000 youths under the Kwara Youth Empowerment Programme (KWAYEP).

The youths were deployed into  various Ministries, Departments and Agencies to make their input in transforming the economic sector of the state.

Speaking on the issue to Pilot Business on Friday, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Empowerment, Alhaji Zakariyau Babatunde said,  ” About three weeks ago the governor gave a directive to the effect that we should start a new programme known as KWAYEP.

“It is a social safety net programme to engage the youths temporarily and to provide them with opportunities to compete favourably with others in the nearest future

” The registration of the programme was carried out between July 9th to 23rd July,2018. As I speak to you we have selected 2,000 youths across the 16 Local Government Areas of the state.

” We equally deployed them to the various spaces across the MDAs in the state with the expectation that they will justify the confidence repose in them to contribute their own quota to the development of Kwara State.

The governor’s Aide stressed that the youths were deployed in accordance with their educational background and disciplines.

Babatunde tasked the youths to be resilient, trustworthy and committed to their work schedules as they are the future leaders of our great nation.

He assured residents of state that the Governor would continue to implement people oriented programmes to reflect true dividends of democracy.
