Lagos-bound passengers stranded for 4hrs as Young Legacy vehicle develops fault

Passengers who boarded one of the vehicles of an Ilorin popular transport company, Young Legacy,  on Saturday had their journey delayed for about three hours when the bus conveying them to Lagos State developed fault.

It was learnt that the 14-seater bus with plate number AAA 541 XF, which took off at about 9:30am,  broke down along Enyenkorin area a suburb of Ilorin as a result of gear problem.

It was further learnt that it took the company about four hours to get another vehicle to convey the passengers to their destination.

One of the passenger, Mr. Kunle Abiodun who spoke to Pilot Business accused the company of being insensitive to the plight of its clients.

He also accused the bus driver of rough driving and flaunting traffic rules as well as having poor customer  relationship.

Another passenger, Pastor Babtunde Tosin blamed the situation on management of Young Legacy for allegedly not ensuring proper checks on their vehicles.

He, therefore, called on law enforcement agencies to ensure that vehicles used for commercial purposes are road worthy in order to ensure safety of lives.

Responding to the allegations, the station Manager of Young Legacy Motors, Mr. Kazeem Amuda Yusuf explained that the company pay premium to vehicle maintenance.

“Our engineers ensures proper check on vehicles before allowing them to operate.

Aside that, we also have taskforce that monitors drivers to ensure that they don’t take alcoholic drink while driving, over speeding among other vices.”

Yusuf further explained that the vehicle had just been returned from the mechanic workshop where it undergone repair, expressing surprise over the incident.

He said, “Some agitated passengers put call through to us over the development and we calmed them down and also assured that an alternative vehicle would be sent down.”

On the conduct of the company’s drivers, he said erring drivers are sanctioned appropriately.

“We have different levels of sanctions ranging from paying of fine, suspension to sack by the management.

“We give our passengers priority and ensure that our vehicles have necessary documents before they hit the road for business,” he added.
