A 42 year-year-old man Balogun Waheed has been arrested by the police for encroaching on a land belonging to a woman simply identified as Fatimoh in Gbagede Area of Ilorin, Kwara State, recently.
The case was said to have been reported at the Commissioner of Police’s surveillance office situated at Area Commander’s office in Ilorin by Balogun Ismail, who sold the land to the woman.
According to a source, Ismail sold 3 plots of land to Fatimoh at the rate of N3m in 2018 and she was about to begin construction work when the suspect encroached on the land.
“The owner of the land had deposited 600 blocks for construction work before travelling for the New Year celebration.
“While she was away, the suspect went to the land and chased away the bricklayers before destroying the blocks.
“The attention of Ismail was drawn to the development and sometime in December he went there and met Waheed clearing the land.
“He accosted the suspect who threatened to deal with him if he does not stay clear of the issue,” the source added.
The case was said to have been reported to the police, which led to the arrest of the suspect, who during interrogation confessed to have committed the crime as a result of a misunderstanding with the land owner two years ago.
