The Kwara State government will commence payment of outstanding salaries owed members of the Non Academic Staff Union (NASU) this week.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Press Secretary to the Head of Service, Mr. Muritala Atoyebi.
The Head of Service, Mrs. Susan Oluwole, according to the statement, made the announcement during a meeting with the executive members of the union in her office on Thursday.
The HoS therefore appealed to members of the union to shelve their planned strike action, assuring that the state government is committed towards meeting their demands.
Oluwole reiterated commitment of the state government to the welfare of its entire workforce, explaining that government had already deliberated on their demands and would commence implementation soon.
The HoS commended the NASU members for their understanding and also providing avenue for dialogue with the government, which she stressed has ensured sustenance of harmonious industrial relationship.
The NASU had planned to embark on industrial action on Monday, August 6 to press for their demands.
