Offa Banks Robbery: Father of slain female police officer dies in Ilorin

Mr James Oyeyemi, father of one of the slain police officers during the April 5, 2018 bloodletting Offa banks robbery incident, Mrs Grace Yemisi Makinde, nee Oyeyemi, has reportedly died in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital at the weekend.

It was reliably gathered that the late Oyeyemi, who had been in agony since the death of his daughter, died at his residence, located at Upper Gaa Akanbi, exactly nine months after his daughter was killed during the robbery attack.

It was, however, gathered that the late Oyeyemi, a retired Inspector in the Nigeria Police Force, who hails from Agbonda, Irepodun Local Government Area of the state fell sick after the untimely death of Grace.

Sources close to the family disclosed that the deceased developed high blood pressure due to the shock of his daughter’s death.

It was further gathered that his medication suddenly failed to achieve the desired change, a development that complicated his sickness and ultimately claimed his life.

Meanwhile, the remains of Pa Oyeyemi have been deposited at the mortuary of University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH), Ilorin. It was further learnt that the family of the deceased are yet to arrive on a date for his burial.

Recall that during the attack about 33 persons including nine police officers were killed.

In connection with the crime, five accused persons; Ayoade Akinnibosun, Ibikunle Ogunleye, Adeola Abraham, Salaudeen Azeez and Niyi Ogundiran are currently facing trial at the Ilorin High Court.

The accused were charged with, alleged conspiracy, armed robbery, murder, Culpable Homicide and illegal possession of fire arms.
