…accused radio presenter of fuelling rumour

Operator of the popular food canteen in Agbo-Oba area of Ilorin, Kwara State, Alhaja Kajola Sikirat Abdulganiyu has opened up on ritual allegation levelled against her.
Last Thursday, there was pandemonium in Agbo-Oba when a angry mob attempted to demolish the structure housing the canteen over alleged rituals by the operator.
Speaking to Pilot Crime in Ilorin on Friday, Abdulganiyu popularly known as Iya Alao, said the allegation was a plot by her enemies to run down her business.
Iya Alao, who explained that she has been in the food business for 39 years, said she was not involved in any kind of rituals to boost sales.
Recalling the incident, Iya Alao said she was at Odo-Oba, Oyo State to buy yam for her business when she received phone calls that people gathered with intention to destroy the restaurant on claims that they discovered human heads in her shop.
“I was shocked and had to rush down to Ilorin. I instructed my workers to call the police to come to their rescue.
“When I got back I met a crowd in front of my shop. The police told me that they had checked every angle in the shop and nothing was found.”
The food canteen operator alleged that the rumour that she had human heads in her shop emanated from a radio presenter.
“Soliu Olohun Lugo a radio presenter at Harmony FM went on air on Friday at 1pm during his programme that he discovered the said human heads in my shop.
“He claimed that when he heard the rumour, he sent his boys and they saw four heads in the hands of my workers. He said in an attempt to confirm it by himself, his car broke down on the way,” she further said.
Iya Alao then challenged the radio presenter to come out with prove that she is in possession of human heads or risk being dragged to court.
Iya Alao who said she began food business in Lagos, added that the enterprise was built from the scratch with credit facilities.
When this medium visited the area on Saturday customers were seen trooping into the restaurant.
A police officer who spoke with our reporter at the scene of the incident had confirmed that no exhibit was found in the canteen.
Reacting, the radio presenter dismissed the allegation as false and unfounded.
According to him, he received phone calls from people who drew his attention to the development, which he promised to investigate.
“I received phone calls from some people on Thursday that a mammoth crowd gathered at the canteen following discovery of human skulls. Unfortunately, I could not make it there because my car broke down.
“When I spoke about the case on my programme the following day, I didn’t mention any name. I even cautioned against maligning people’s image. I have never had encounter with the canteen operator,” he explained.
