Kwara State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has reportedly
acquired a state-of the-art luxury Jeeps, worth a whopping
N480million, this medium can report.
The black bullet-proof custom built SUVs which were reportedly
delivered secretly to the Governor in Lagos last Thursday was a 2019
Toyota Lexus model which reportedly cost N240m each.
There was no official pronouncement on the vehicles from the Governor
or the state government on the purpose for which the cars were
ordered.
A source who is in the know of the transaction further revealed that
the Governor ordered the cars for himself and wife, Olufunke.
“But why the secret delivery in Lagos and why were they not delivered
in Ilorin for all to see? This is someone who pretends by driving
himself around in Hilux van to hoodwink unsuspecting citizens,” the
source added.
It was not clear the country from which the cars were imported last
night but photographs of the luxury vehicles were obtained by National
Pilot from where they were displayed possibly before the arrival of
the Governor for inspection.
Some of the unique features of the cars included a customised two-tone
(black and red) leather seats with the Governors initials “AA”
inscribed on the head seats, in-car refrigerator, internet-able TV,
full entertainment system and rear DVD among others.
Before the delivery of the new set of vehicles, Mallam Abdulrazaq had
given the impression of a frugal Governor who deprives himself of the
luxury lifestyle associated with the office in order to cut cost of
governance as he seldom drives himself in Hilux pickup to functions.
It was however not clear, why the sudden switch for a more elaborate
and ostentatious lifestyle.
But speaking on the issue last night, the Chief Press Secretary (CPS),
to the Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, denied the purchase of the vehicles,
adding that his principal still moves around in his personal Lexus
jeep.
In a text and whatsapp messages, Ajakaye said, “There is no such
thing. The Governor took no delivery of any new vehicle. He still
drives his personal Lexus jeep, the same that he drove to Lagos.”
