JUST IN: 19 Days To Leaving Office, Buhari writes senate, seeks approval to borrow $800m from World Bank

President Muhammadu Buhari has asked the senate to approve a request to borrow $800 million from the World Bank.
This request is coming just 19 days to his leaving office and handing over to the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
Buhari’s request was contained in a letter read by Senate President Ahmad Lawan on the floor of the upper legislative chamber on Wednesday.
The president said the funds would be used to finance the National Social Safety Net programme.
