Fuel Scarcity: Ilorin receives 43 petrol trucks in 2days

 

There seems to be an end in sight to the recent fuel scarcity as no fewer than 43 petrol laden trucks were supplied to Ilorin, the Kwara State capital on Tuesday and Wednesday, Pilot Business has learnt.
About 24 trucks reportedly arrived the state capital yesterday while 19 was said to have been received the previous day.
The state Controller of Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), Mr Salvation Philip on Wednesday, said the fuel situation is getting better as more trucks from Ilorin Zone are loading from Ibadan depot.
He therefore warned marketers against hoarding fuel, urging motorists to avoid panic buying.
The Controller, who spoke through the Head of Operations of the agency, Mr. Oyedele Ibitayo said that the department is not relenting in its daily surveillance activities across Ilorin metropolis.
He said, “The scarcity situation is gradually vanishing as more trucks are loading for Ilorin and its environ. Yesterday (Tuesday), we had about 19 trucks coming in and today (Wednesday) 24 trucks of PMS was received. Also, the loading in Ibadan is an added advantage.”
He stressed that the essence of the monitoring exercise is to ensure that marketers do not engage in  sharp practices in the state.
He said the agency was not out to punish any marketer who conducted his business within the ambit of the law, warning that any infraction would attract appropriate sanction.
He disclosed that a number of filling stations have been sealed for sharp practices, adding that the agency is collaborating with security agencies to ensure compliance and sanction errant marketers appropriately.
