Kwara Poly holds 26th Convocation, today

The Kwara State Polytechnic will today (Thursday) hold its 26th
Convocation ceremony for the 2018/2019 National Diploma and Higher
National Diploma graduands of the institution.
A press conference to herald activities of the convocation ceremony
was held yesterday at the premises of the polytechnic.
Also, a convocation lecture titled “Polytechnic Education and National
Security” was delivered by  Olawoye Soladoye Adegboye at the Prof. W.H
Right Academic Conference Centre of the instituton, on Wednesday.
Briefing newsmen, the  new Rector of the institution, Engr. Abdul
Jimoh Muhammad said all was set for the successful conduct of the
ceremony.
He added that there would be presentation of prizes to outstanding
students across various institutes of the polytechnic.
The Rector, however, disclosed that the school will be playing host to
no fewer than 3,000 athletes for the 2019 edition of NIPOGA Games
holding between 4th and 14th December.
He enumerated the challenges facing the institution, which include
funding, ageing nature of the institution’s structures, hostel
accommodation and perimeter fencing of the institution to further help
secure it.
While noting that the institution had in the past four or five years
not benefited subvention from the state government,  Muhammed said
Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has promised to restore  monthly
subvention to the institution.
According to him, the additional funding would go a long way to cater
for some of the needs of the polytechnic and make it realise its
vision aimed towards development of the institution.
The Rector further said that the management is putting measures in
place to construct a fence round the polytechnic campus with a view to
address the issue of encroachment.
The newly appointed rector while reeling out his programmes to ensure
the institution’s lost glory in technology is restored, he promised to
immediately establish a Unit, Intellectual Proper Technological
Transfer Office (IPTTO) to enhance aggressive technology breakthrough
in the school.
