KWARTMA tasks govt officials, MDAs on traffic compliance

By Matthew Denis

The Kwara State Road Traffic Management Authority (KWARTMA) has appealed to senior civil servants, heads of Ministries Department and Agencies to assist the agency in ensuring that members of the public comply with traffic rules and regulations in the state.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Chief Executive Officer of KWARTMA, Babatunde Yekini Bello yesterday.

The KWARTMA boss urged civil servants in the state to collaborate with the agency in ensuring free flow of traffic especially in Ilorin metropolis.

Part of the statement reads; “The attention of the agency has been drawn to the purported pictures and comments on social media involving the Commissioner for Environment and Forestry, Hon. Amos Shayo in a vehicle with other occupants driving against traffic rules at Adualere area.

“The agency therefore distanced itself from the said pictures which could be products of agents of evil machinations in an attempt to create friction in the cordial relationship that exists between the agency and the ministry.

“Moreover, the statement by the officers at the scene, which was confirmed by eyewitness account revealed that the commissioner was not among the passengers in the vehicle.”

The agency therefore called on the general public to regard such information as false and baseless adding that it is targeted at discrediting the image of the Ministry of Environment and that of the traffic agency.
