WAEC confirms certificate genuine

The West African Examination Council (WAEC),yesterday, confirmed that the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Saturday’s election in Osun, Senator Ademola Adeleke actually wrote his WAEC exams in 1981.
In a report published by The Cable, the council confirmed Adeleke’s participation in an affidavit deposed at the FCT high court in Bwari, Abuja.
In the affidavit sworn to by Henry Sunday Adewunmi Osideinde, deputy registrar, head of school examination department, WAEC confirmed that Adeleke sat for the May/April 1981 exam at Ede Muslim High School in Osun State.
Recall that the dancing senator was not only accused of not having his WAEC certificate but also did not graduate from Jacksonville State University (JSU) in the United States by icirnigeria.org, Rasheed Olabayo and Oluwaseun Idowu.
In view of this, policemen from Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Alagbon, Lagos on August 2, 2018 started investigation and stormed Ede Muslim High School I, where the principal of the school, Mr Khalid Abbas, was arrested and taken to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Osogbo.
In a bid to maintain the democratic principle and the rule of law, court therefore gave WAEC five days to produce Adeleke’s results.
The court in a ruling that was delivered by Justice Othman Musa, directed that WAEC should depose an affidavit, to either deny or confirm that Adeleke who is currently representing Osun West Senatorial District, sat for the exams the Council conducted in 1981.
Meanwhile, the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has said it was high time President Muhammadu Buhari released his own certificate.
Imo Ugochinyere, CUPP spokesperson, in a statement on Wednesday, said the last desperate option of causing confusion among voters by pushing for Adeleke’s disqualification has failed and the All Progressives Congress (APC) is on the way out.
He said: “It gladdens our hearts that Senator Adeleke did not hire 13 SANs to frustrate the hearing of the case by filing numerous frivolous applications and appeals like President Muhammadu Buhari did when summoned to Court to produce his own certificate.
“Mr. Buhari who undeservedly prides himself as Mr. Integrity is yet to provide his certificate; apparently because he does not have any. How can one attach integrity to such a character? President Buhari is hereby called upon to now direct the Army Secretary to produce the certificate he tendered to the Army on the day he joined the Nigerian Army.
“Having failed in this last plot to continue to hold down a resolute Osun electorate in their mire of misgovernance, we have it on good authority that the APC led Federal Government has activated the Nigeria Police which has effectively turned itself into the militant wing of the ruling Party to summon the candidate again based on concocted allegations just to derail the sack of APC from the Osun Government House.”
