Micro Projects: Kwara presents cheque to 26 rural communities
The Kwara State Government through the Kwara State Community and Social Development Agency (KWCSDA) on Monday commenced the presentation of cheques to 26 rural communities in the state.
The presentation and project launch also signifies the commencement of the execution of micro projects across sectors in the benefitting communities.
Presenting the cheques to leaders of the communities, the Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed congratulated the benefiting communities on the successful completion of their Community Development Plans (CDPs) and subsequent approval of their CDPs.
Ahmed, who was represented by the KWCSDA Board chairman, Alhaji Ayinla Salihu Alamoyo further disclosed that, “235 micro-projects have so far been completed while 21 ongoing projects across the various local governments of the state.
“These projects covers the sectors of water, education, health, electricity, erosion control, environment and natural resources, transport and socio-economic intervention.
“You will therefore agree with me that it is a landmark achievement on the part of this administration that a total of 235 micro-projects have been implemented, completed and in use in our rural communities across the 16 local government areas of Kwara State, all to the credit of this great administration”
He therefore urged the benefiting communities to judiciously use the funds for the purpose(s) it had been earmarked for.
Earlier, the General Manger of the KWCSDA, Engr. (Mrs.) Engineer Amamat Oluwatoyin Haruna informed the gathering that the state government through the agency had “so far drawdown a total sum of N1.2billion with over N6.7million disbursed to communities since 2016 to date. 235 micro-projects have so far been completed and in use while 21 are on-going”.
The KWCSDA boss, who disclosed that this is the first cheque presentation/project launch since she assumed office as the GM of the agency appreciated her predecessors for building a solid platform for the agency.
She also called on the benefitting communities to use the fund disbursed judiciously and transparently in the implementation of the approved/intended projects as any money misused or misappropriated would be refunded.
The benefiting communities are Esinlore, Patidati, Gbadagun Gagara, Gbadagun Sokowunso, Effu-Tsadza, Bacitagi, Bakagi, Jogbo Emu, Ndakudi, Kpache, Boribo and Ndache Saba.
Others are Kpanparagi, Dubugi, Kpankorogi, Papa Baba Ode, Edidi, Owu Isin, Elekoyangan, Pamo Isin, Budo Oba, Baba Keke, Olaosebikan, Ekko, Okoh and Osin Budo Are communities.
The cheque presentation to the benefitting communities is billed to end tomorrow (Friday).
