There is presently disquiet in the Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the campaign fund allegedly brought into the state by the presidency, last week, National Pilot can report.

The money, which was brought to the state with a chartered flight number 404SA and was accompanied by the Kwara Central senatorial candidate of the party, Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe with four ‘Ghana Must Go bags’ has since raised concerns among some loyalists of the APC.

It was gathered that some of the party leaders and supporters who had expected the money to be disbursed as part of mobilisation fund for the elections were disappointed when nothing of such was forthcoming.

A source who was privy to the issue told this medium that some of the aggrieved members have accused leaders of the party of deliberately denying them their share of the fund.

The source further noted that a number of members of the party have confronted their leaders to express disappointment on the way they have been treated despite their sacrifice for the party.

Another source, who also spoke on the issue, said the money that was brought to Kwara State by Oloriegbe for the election was meant for only the candidates for various positions in the election, adding that it was not meant to be freely disbursed in the first place.

He said, “Those complaining have no reason to do so because they are not candidates in the elections. The money that was brought was only meant for those contesting for positions and not to mobilise members of the party. They don’t have any issue with the leadership of the party. The only thing I would want to add is that those candidates should carry their subjects and leaders who have sacrificed a lot for their candidacy, along,” he added.

One of the aggrieved members however faulted the attitude of some party leaders on the issue.

He told our reporter that what is annoying is that they have worked all along without making any demand because they are more concerned about the victory of the party. But now that money has come, they deserved to be carried along.

Efforts to get the Publicity Secretary of the party in the state, Alhaji Tajudeen Aro, last night were not successful as his phone was switched off. A text message sent to him on the issue was also yet to be replied before this paper went to bed.

The state Chairman of the APC, Hon Bashiru Omolaja Bolarinwa was also contacted on the phone on the issue but he did not pick his calls.
