Saraki mourns Buratai’s father, veteran broadcaster

 

The Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has condoled with the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai over the death of his father, Mallam Yusuf Buratai.
Saraki in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yusuph Olaniyonu, described the late Buratai as a true Nigerian who contributed immensely to the development of his country during his lifetime and left behind a legacy of selfless service, discipline and hard work.
“Pa Buratai did not only serve the country as a military personnel – having been a non-commissioned officer in the West African Frontier Force – he left behind capable children like the Chief of Army Staff, who are today carrying on the torch of national service,” Saraki stated.
He commiserated with the Chief of Army Staff, the entire Buratai’s family, the military high command and the Government and people of Borno State over the irreparable loss.
He prayed Almighty Allah to grant the soul of the deceased Aljannah Firdaus, while calling on the late Buratai’s children and loved ones to take solace in the exemplary lifestyle of their late father.
Similarly, Saraki has described the death of veteran broadcaster, Mahmoon Baba-Ahmed, as not only a loss to the journalism profession but to the entire nation.
Saraki, said the late ace broadcaster, writer and media manager had contributed immensely to the growth of journalism profession not only in the North but the entire nation.ย  He described the deceased, who is an elder brother to his Chief of Staff, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, as fearless and courageous.
He recalled how he risked his life to report live the Maitatsine crises in the 80’s from the battle front.
“As a journalist and writer, he exhibited courage in reporting and presenting issues, no matter whose ox is gored. With his death, the journalism profession has surely lost one of its shining and exemplary stars,” Saraki said.
He commiserated with the family of the deceased, particularly his Chief of Staff, Dr Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, Zaria emirate,ย  people and government of Kaduna state, while praying God to grant the soul of the deceased Aljannah Firdaus.
