Alleged Rituals: Kwara CP calls for evidence against Adewole division

The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Lawan Ado, has called on members of the public with credible evidence or information over allegation that officers of the Adewole ‘D’ Division police station are agents of ritualists, to present it.

The CP made the call during a press briefing yesterday at the police headquarters in Ilorin, the state capital.

He assured that useful information that could assist in investigation into the matter, would be treated with utmost confidentiality.

“We call on citizens of Kwara who have credible information or aware of information should come up and tell us. We are willing to investigate and whoever is found wanting among the police officers will be prosecuted,” he said.

He however urged Kwarans to discountenance the rumours making the rounds about officers of the police station, stressing that the claims are yet to be substantiated.

Lawan noted that the issue had gone viral on the social media, warning people against disseminating malicious information.

“Nothing like that is happening in Adewole police Station. We feel that it’s worrisome that’s why we are letting the media aware that it is a false information.

“The information circulating on social media over the allegation is not credible. It’s malicious information, which is sent to cause trauma within the state by anti peace people.”

According to him, the DPO of the division had been interviewed and investigation into the matter revealed that nothing of such happened.

He said further that the command is doing its best to ensure that member of the public enjoy maximum security in the state.

He debunked the alleged invasion of the police station by the army, saying, “The DPO told me that a soldier came to the police station to report a case of breach and necessary action was taken by the men of the command.”

Meanwhile, the command paraded five men for alleged armed robbery within the metropolis.

The suspects are Kabiru Abolarin, Olaleye Kolade, Abioye Oladimeji, Oladimeji Ezekiel, Afeez Abolaji, Suleiman Jelili.

The Commissioner of Police disclosed that the suspects were nabbed in different parts of the state.

He said that, the duo of Kolade and Abolarin on 14th of September were arrested by men of the command in collaboration with Oyo State Police command’s SARS for robbing one Mrs Omokanye Modupe of Danialu Alapata, Gaa Akanbi, Ilorin of her Black Toyota Corolla with reg.No. (Kwara) LEM 121 TK, which was later recovered.

In another related development, Lawan said that, on Monday, SARS operatives attached to Eruku Division also arrested four men, Oladimeji resident in Ibadan, Ezekiel, Abolaji and Jeliliย ย for snatching aย ย Toyota Rav 4 with reg.No.Lagos AKD 959 EF in Ibadan.

The CP said the suspects have confessed to the crime and will be charged to court after investigation is concluded.
