JAAC: Kwara 16 LGs share N606,9m, SUBEB gets N900m

The 16 local government areas of Kwara State have shared N605,972,492.16 for the month of October allocation , just as State Universal Education Board (SUBEB) teachers got N900million for this month’s (October) allocation.
The Deputy President, NULGE, Comrade Oloruntade Ibikunle made this known while addressing pressmen after the state monthly Joint Accounts Allocation Committee (JAAC) meeting held at the Ministry of Finance Conference Hall, Ilorin on Friday.
He explained that statutory allocation for the month of October stood at N1,555,329,112.84 as against N2,046,575,793,.73 received in September representing 24.00 decrease ;10 per cent IGR from state government was N38,917,250.66; VAT stood at N438,614,308.29, against N461,537,268.34 in the previous month.
He explained that Exchange Difference of N190,320,931.85 was also received, while the net Statutory N1,275,283,757.84.
He revealed that the sum of N280, 045, 355 was deducted at source as repayment for the N4.820billion loan facility the councils obtained in 2015 to pay salaries.
The deputy president explained that the fund was appropriated in line with law guiding the local government account which included; Teachers salary N900,000,000 and LGEA pension N245,342,824.63 among others.
He explained that the distribution of the allocations among the local government councils in the state was done in accordance with section 4(2) of the state Joint Local Government Account Law (cap80) as amended by Law 15 of 2001.
He however implored the state government not to renege in its efforts to assist the 16 LGs in order for them to meet their financial.
Also speaking, the Secretary, NULGE, Comrade Hotonu Rafiu commended the workers for their perseverance, saying that the problem would soon become things of the past.
