2 Nabbed for duping trader of N610,000
Two people are cooling their heels in police net for allegedly swindling a fish dealer, Dauda Sodiq to the tune of N610,000 in Ilorin, Kwara State.
The suspects, Bukola Mudasir also known as Shaggy and Popoola Sulyman of Ita-Amoh, Gaa-Saka area and Popoola compound, Oloje area of the state capital respectively, were arrested last Tuesday.
Pilot Crime learnt that the suspects had reneged on an agreement reached with the victim whose shop is located at Oja-Tuntun to pay for a supply of stock fish valued at N610,000.
It was further learnt that when the trader accosted Mudashir on the matter, he claimed to have paid into the victim’s account and also threatened to deal with him (Sodiq).
According to a police source, the suspects were arrested following report by Sodiq at the area command.
“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to have deceitfully collected 82 cartons of stock fish from the trader.”
In a related development, 53-year-old Fatai Folaranmi Balogun has been arrested for illegal sale of land in Offa, Kwara State.
The suspect was said to have sold a family land worth N300m belonging to the Balogun family of Offa.
It was gathered that the family in 2015, appointed Folaranmi as a member of land committee and representative of the family in the sale of the land, a position which he allegedly abused.
“The suspect engaged in the sale of the land without following due process and when he was called to give account, it was realised that the land sold is worth N300m,” a source revealed.
The suspect was alleged to have also threatened other members of the family and failed to remit the proceed from the sale of land.
The case was reported to police command by Oseni Olaniyi Balogun, which led to the arrest of the suspect.
