Kwara 2019: Family indifferent as guber posters of Funke Adedoyin’s brother flood Ilorin streets

Son of a foremost industrialist in the state, Ayorinde Adedoyin has signified interest to run for the governorship race in Kwara State come 2019.
His posters sighted by this reporter, last night, were pasted in strategic places around Ilorin including Surulere, Taiwo Oke and General hospital area.
The poster which had the inscription “Kwara Choice for 2019, Ayorinde Adedoyin for Kwara Governor, a greater Kwara for all” captured the guber hopeful wearing gold colour cap and white Agbada embroidery.
It was not clear whether he is proposing to run on the platform of the All Progressives Congress(APC), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) or the yet to be assented independent candidature bill which is presently being deliberated upon by the state Houses of assemblies.
Adedoyin’s posters sighted by this medium did not state the party he has pledged his allegiance for the race.
His entrance may have swelled the growing number of aspirants who have allegedly indicated interest in the coveted seat as successor to the incumbent Governor, Alh Abdulfatah Ahmed whose tenure will end on the 29th of May, 2019.
Adedoyin is the son of a foremost industrialist, Chief Samuel Adedoyin, and a younger brother to the Deputy Chairman, House of Representative Committee on Army for Irepodun/Ekiti/Isin/Oke-Ero federal constituency, Hon Funke Adedoyin.
He is said to have the financial war chest and pedigree to prosecute his gubernatorial ambition when the Independent National Electoral Commission finally blow the whistle for campaigns.
Largely known in the business world than in the political circles, Adedoyin is the chairman of Peacegate, an organisation that provides services in the aviation sector, real estate, oil and gas, logistics and trading sector of the economy.
Addressed as the Prince of Agbamu by his admirers, he may have the Kwara South question to contend with just as his family appeared unmoved by the development last night when National Pilot sought their opinions.
According to Hon Funke Adedoyin, his brother has the constitutional right to vie for any position in the state as a citizen of the country adding that she is not aware of the said posters.
“I’m not really aware of any poster but if you say so, then it may be true but what am I supposes to say about that”?
“It’s not news that two members of the same family are coming out after all, we won’t be the first in Kwara. It’s a free world, he’s an adult and he has the constitutional right to vie for any position.
“The fact that I’m an active participant in the governing party does not prevent any other person from coming out regardless of the family affiliation. He has the right to exercise his franchise as a citizen of this country,” the lawmaker submitted.
