To commemorate the 55th birthday celebration of the Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, a special prayer is to be held in his honour at his Iloffa residence, GRA, Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, today.
Though it is yet to be confirmed whether Saraki who is as at the time of filing this report in Kano, will be around for his birthday celebration, the special prayer is however expected to be graced by government functionaries, lawmakers and political stalwarts among others. Saraki whose tenure as governor of Kwara transformed the state over two tenures is described by many as the architect of modern Kwara.
Among his numerous achievements as governor is the construction of the first overhead bridge in the state at Post Office area, Ilorin, the Aviation International College, the Kwara Football Academy, the modern Kwara State Stadium, Shonga Farms and the Ilorin Airport cargo terminal, just to mention but a few.
Saraki who became governor of Kwara in May 2003 is the first son of the departed Kwara State political icon, Dr Abubakar Olusola Saraki. Until his death in November 2012, the Saraki patriarch dominated and controlled ‘political space’ in the state and Nigeria at large for about four decades.
Meanwhile, inundated congratulatory messages have continued to pour in ahead of the 55th birthday of the Senate President.
The Kwara State Chapter of the All Progressives Youth Forum (APYF) congratulated Saraki on the occasion saying, “Today, like always, we celebrate the impact of your rich life on the lives so many others, within and outside Kwara State. Having dutifully followed your trajectory since you joined politics, we take cognisance of the influence of your courageous leadership on the human and material development of our dear State of harmony.
“As you turn 55 years on earth, the leadership role you have continually played which has over the years produced more leaders easily attest to your unmatched ability to discover, harness and develop potentials. On behalf of the teeming progressive youths of Kwara State, we are grateful for your interventions in the political space of Kwara and Nigeria which have largely define the stability of our dear state and nation.”
Also, the Kwara State radio on its twitter handle yesterday said, “Happy Birthday in advance sir, As you add another year tomorrow, We wish you many Happy and fruitful returns. Our dear @SPNigeria @bukolasaraki … God Bless you sir.
