CHAN 2018: Former ABS Keeper, Ayeleso gets late call-up
Home-based Super Eagles coach, Salisu Yusuf, has handed a late call-up to the former ABS Ilorin FC and now Nasarawa United goalkeeper, Suraj Ayeleso, ahead of the 2018 African Nations Championship in Morocco.
Ayeleso who has been one of the most consistent goalkeepers in the Nigeria Professional Football League in recent seasons, was a surprise omission from the initial 30-man list released by Yusuf.
He kept the most clean sheets (16) in the NPFL last season.
The goalie is now expected to vie for a spot in the team along with the three other goalkeepers; Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Dele Ajiboye and Theophilus Afelokhai who are already in the team’s camp in Abuja
Yusuf has also handed late invitation to Plateau United forward, Tosin Omoyele, who impressed during the recently concluded NPFL Invitational tournament in Kano, and Kano Pillars’ Sadiq Yusuf.
Nigeria has been drawn in Group C with Rwanda, Libya and Equatorial Guinea for the CHAN.
The competition will run from January 13 to February 4 2018.
