Deputy Speaker seeks support for APC
The Deputy Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Matthew Okedare (Jebba) has called on the electorate to continue to support the present administration for them to continue to enjoy dividend of democracy.
Okedare who represented Lanwa/Ejidongari said this while commissioning two hand pump boreholes for the people of Duse Community in Bode-Saadu Ward, Moro Local Government.
According to him, the APC is poised to continue to meet their needs and aspiration in line with the campaign promises made to the people adding that the opposition has nothing to offer but only deception.
He called on the people of the community to continue to vote for the APC in subsequent election even as he noted that the party will addressed all the complaints raised during the last local government election in the community.
The facilities, which included a newly sunk and another renovated one gulped Nine hundred thousand naira (N900, 000).
He explained that the gesture was part of his resolve to provide drinkable water supply to affected communities in his constituency.
The lawmaker stressed that as the people’s representative, he would stop at nothing to ensure that their wellbeing are always given priority attention.
Okedare who expressed delight that various communities are benefiting from the scheme said it would go a long way in reducing the people’s hardship, especially in search of drinkable water.
While stressing that he was embarking on the project on his own without any support from group or individuals, the Deputy Speaker assured other communities that are yet to benefit from the gesture not to lose hope and pledged to look into other areas where government could be called upon to come to the community’s aid, especially in the areas of electricity supply, renovation of school among others.
Earlier, the Serikin Fulani in Duse Community, Alhaji Aliyu Shittu said the gesture would go a long way to solve the problem of water scarcity in the community and the people would never forget the Deputy Speaker for taken a bold step to address one of their most pressing problems.
Also speaking, the Magaji Gatta Village, Alhaji AbdulKareem Baba said that the problem of potable water was a major problem confronting the community and thanked Okedare for his commitment to the welfare of the people.
A youth leader in the community, Philips Auta said the step taken by the Deputy Speaker had shown that the people of the community were not neglected and assured government of the community’s support at all times.
The leader of the opposition PDP who decamped to the APC during the event, Ibrahim Suleiman said Okedare has succeeded in killing the opposition with his action adding that they will henceforth continue to work assiduously to ensure the party remains the one to beat in subsequent election.
