It was however in lieu of this, earlier on Wednesday, a group led by one Emmanuel Obi-Nwosu, opened a secretariat in Asokoro area, Abuja claiming to be having genuine party structure.
The group identified as fresh PDP at it inaugural press conference vowed to do everything within its powers to reclaim the leadership of the party from the newly elected National Chairman, Secondus.
In his reaction to the development, the state chairman of the party, Iyiola Oyedepo described the group as illegal adding that those embarking on that mission are only distracters.
He added under the party structure and constitution, Secondus emerged chairman at the convention noting that the ‘self acclaimed leader of the just flag off group is only seeking attention’.
He further urged party members in the state and beyond not to be distracted by what is going on at the national level saying efforts are in place to ensure the aggrieved ones in the party are reconciled.
“Those that are forming parallel excos, we don’t know them. We are for PDP here in the state and we’re not for any personal gains, the development is illegal, Secondus has made it as the chairman, we don’t know any other person.
“It doesn’t have any effect on the party since they are operating outside the system, it is very inconsequential, the party has a reconciliation committee, if they are approachable, they will bring them back to the party and if they proved impossible, their exit will not disturb the party in anyway.
“We don’t need to disturb ourselves over that development because it cannot stand, very soon, things fall in place even automatically for the party.
In the same vein, the former factional chairman in the state, Prince Sunday Fagbemi described the development as sabotage adding that the party leadership should do something about it before it before into degenerate.
