Saraki, Dalung, others to grace JAMB football final

 

Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki, Honorable Minister for Youth and Sports Development, Barrister Solomn Dalung and other dignitaries are expected to grace the closing ceremony of the on-going JAMB tertiary institutions football competition scheduled to hold on Saturday, 26th 2017 at the University of Ilorin playing ground.

According to the statement  to Pilot Sports, the Kwara State Governor Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed will be the special guest of honour.

Senator Bukola Saraki and Solomon Dalung will be the Chairman and guest of honour respectively.

While the Registrar, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Professor Is-haq .O. Oloyede, the sponsor of the competition is the chief host at the grand final ceremony.

The tournament, which started on Monday 21st comprise of 16 finalists from the six geo-political zones, which cuts across the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, eight teams have emerged for the quarter-final match that will kick off today (Thursday) at the two centrals, Kwara Football Academy and University of Ilorin.

In the quarter-final pairing, SSCOE Sokoto will host Ikorodu while DELSU meets Gombe, all at KFA, Minna will play host to Makurdi and ABTU will slug it out with the only Kwara team at the event, Oro College of Education at the University of Ilorin.

 


…as host Unilorin, Kwarapoly, Fedpoffa knocked out

University of Ilorin football team has been knocked-out of the on-going JAMB tertiary football competition, having lost their two opening group matches.

Playing from Group C, University of Ilorin lost their first match to Federal Polytechnic, Offa by a lone goal on Monday, and also lost 2-0 to College of Education, Minna on Tuesday, they played goalless draw with Lagos State Polytechnic, Ikorodu in their last group game yesterday.

Federal Polytechnic, Offa was also knocked out of the championship as they failed to beat College of Education, Minna in their last game.

In Group A, Kwara Polytechnic lost out of the competition after failing to secure a point from two matches.

They lost the first match 1-0 to Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto, and the second to 2-1 to Kaduna Polytechnic yesterday. They will play University of Agriculture today (Thursday) at the Main Pitch, Unilorin by 12 noon.
